DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIOT ACCOUNT USERNAME AND RIOT ID
Many players confuse these terms. Let me explain it in simple terms:
- Riot Account Username (Login Name): This is your unique ID used to log in to your Riot account. It's hidden from other players for security reasons. Usernames are eligible for a one-time change only so it's best to be cautious when updating your Riot account. Riot Support may offer exceptions in rare cases. Reach out to them for extraordinary circumstances.
- Riot ID (Previously called Summoner Name): This is your in-game persona and the name everyone sees in LoL - your friends, foes, and everyone in between. This is also displayed in other games by Riot Games. The Riot ID can be changed once every 90 days.
Think of it like this: your Riot Account Username is your secret agent code name, while your Riot ID or Summoner name is your public alias.
